Export a complete, verifiable copy of your entire WAYSCloud account — every service, plus meil.no — in open formats, anytime. Download snapshots on demand, schedule recurring exports, and keep independent backups of your own data. Your data remains yours, with no lock-in.

What this is ​

Takeout brings together the export capabilities from across the WAYSCloud platform into a single, dedicated portal. You sign in with your WAYSCloud Connect account (or your meil.no account) and export everything in it as one organised, verifiable archive.

You have always been able to export your data from each individual service and control panel. Takeout does not introduce a new policy — it introduces a simpler experience: instead of navigating every service separately, you manage exports, backups and account archives from one place built specifically for data portability and long-term retention.

Every export uses open, documented formats (JSON, MBOX, iCalendar, vCard, PDF, original files), and every archive includes a verification manifest with SHA-256 checksums so you can independently confirm it is complete and untampered.

When to use it ​

Use this when ​

  • You want a full, offline backup of your WAYSCloud account
  • You are migrating to or from another provider and need your data in standard formats
  • You need to fulfil a data-portability or GDPR access request
  • You want to keep a current, independent copy of your data on your own infrastructure

Consider something else when ​

  • You only need a single resource right now → use the export option inside that individual service
  • You need live, continuously-synced files → use WAYSCloud Drive or the meil desktop app
  • You need machine-to-machine, ongoing access to your data → use the API

How to use it ​

  1. Go to takeout.wayscloud.services.
  2. Sign in with your WAYSCloud Connect or meil.no account. You will be asked to re-authenticate — this step-up check protects your data even if a session is left open.
  3. Choose what to export — your whole account, or just the services you want.
  4. Choose how to receive it (see Delivery options below).
  5. Request the export. You can close the tab — the work continues in the background.
  6. You'll be emailed when it's ready, with a private download link.
  7. Download within 7 days. Large exports get their own extended window.

You are notified by email at each stage — when an export is requested, when it is ready, and when it is downloaded — so you always know the status of your own data.

Large files are delivered as individual objects with their own private, time-limited download links, so even very large accounts export reliably.

What is not included ​

For your safety, Takeout never hands back data that cannot be exported securely:

  • Credentials — passwords, secret keys, API secret values and tokens are never included (only metadata about which keys exist).
  • End-to-end-encrypted chat content — only your own device holds the keys, so only your device can export it.

Every archive lists exactly what was included and what was excluded, so there are no surprises.

Security & privacy ​

  • Re-authentication required for every export — a fresh identity check before any data is gathered.
  • Encrypted at rest — archives are encrypted while they wait to be downloaded.
  • Private, expiring links — download links are unguessable and expire (7 days by default).
  • Cryptographic verification — SHA-256 manifests let you confirm integrity independently.
  • Fully audit-logged — every request, build and download is recorded.
  • You're notified on request, ready, and download.

Availability & pricing ​

Takeout is free for every customer during the current trust period, including full account exports, snapshots and backup functionality. Basic export stays free afterwards.

Recently, some have had the impression that the company has been sold to "big tech." We can confirm that is not the case. All services are running and will remain operational as usual. We are nonetheless choosing to be open about our reorganisation process — and are therefore making it even easier for you to export your data, whenever you want, and as often as you want.

Does it cover my whole WAYSCloud account, not just email? Yes — that's the point. Takeout exports across the entire WAYSCloud platform: domains, DNS, billing, VPS and compute, databases, Redis, object storage, App Platform, Container Registry, web hosting, GPU Studio, Speech Intelligence, DNS Shield, IP Intelligence, Verify, Live Events, support tickets, wallet & credits, audit logs and more — as structured JSON, with invoices as PDF.

I also use meil.no — is my email included? Yes. If your meil.no account shares the same identity, your mailbox, calendar, contacts, files, device backups and documents are included in the same export — mail as MBOX, calendar as ICS, contacts as vCard.

Is it free? Yes — free for all customers during the current trust period. Basic export stays free afterwards.

How long is my download available? 7 days by default, via a private, expiring link. Large exports get their own window.

Can I get exports automatically? Yes — schedule recurring exports for ongoing, independent backups.

Can it go straight to my own cloud? Yes — bring your own S3 destination (advanced).
